Morning at Lemsford Spring

At the weekend had a nice morning at Lemsford Springs with a nice selection of birds from the hide with the Kingfisher and the Grey Wagtail and a pair of Little Egrets and a odd Teal in with the Mallards showing well from the main hide with a few Mistle Thushes and a odd Redwing overhead and a Munjac Deer passing through.

Then walked round to the next section with a few Goldcrest in with the Tit flock and found a nice Parasol Mushroom.

Then spent a nice time in the other hide watching the Green Sandpipers of which there at least 5 feeding and going about their business when a Fox came through quickly but not interested in the birds but did't disturb a Green woodpecker which then showed very well to end a good morning.

Autumn walk in the New Forest

While vising the family managed to have a nice walk around fritham down to the brrok and back on the north west of the national park nice to see the Ponies out in the sunshine along with quite a few Meadow Pipits and Linnets on the grassland and in the woodland had a nice selection of Mushrooms and Fungi a selection of the better finds below.

Stongehenge

Last weekend up visiting family though Saturday was fairly we had a little visit to Stongehenge as we were in the area and one one those places you always pass but never seem to visit even with family stories of parents sitting up by the stones, even though this is not possible the new work which was done last year means you can get pretty close to the impressive monuments.

Southern Shrike

At the weekend with a Hoopoe showing well all week near Bedford decided to try and see my dream bird but no luck as it had vanished but  did have a nice flock of Golden Plovers fly over the nearby farm fields so decided to go for the Southern Shrike in Norfolk which was a good call as it was a super bird showing pretty well as someone had put some Mealworms down so was feeding on them and Beetles which it was capturing and spiking from one of its perches.

Barred Warbler at Blow's Down

A Barred Warbler had been at Blow's Down for several days so one morning before work headed to the slopes on a fine morning where it was feeding on the blackberries on a big clump of bushes so was often hiding from view but around at the time was a pair of Stonechats and a numbers of Meadow Pipits flying south along with the odd Swallow.

Spurn Point

After a week of a certain Masked Shrike been around Spurn for a over a week i gave and headed up and had a worthwhile trip around the point. When I got to the area the bird had been favouring the bird was showing well but distance but giving some decent scope views and seeming to be feeding quite with quite a few insects been fed on. Then headed out to the beach where I had some nice views of Dunlins and Little Egrets feeding around the shore edge and further out Ringed Plovers, Redshank, Curlew and Black-tailed Godwits.

Then do some some bird watching around the Anchor Carpark and the Churchyard where had quite a few Meadow Pipits go over along with a few Skylarks, Gold Finches and Linnets before heading to the Ringing area where they had manged to catch a young Rosefinch another new bird for me which was super to see up close before they released it into the bushes where it headed off east. I then headed off into the Dunes where I had nice views of a pair of Stonechats, a Wheatear and a very active hunting pair of Kestrels to end a very enjoyable day.
